Dominance at Home: 2026 Cuyamaca Invite Recap

Cuyamaca College hosted an unforgettable day of Track and Field this past Saturday, taking full advantage of its home-track setting. The Coyotes turned in standout performances across the sprints, distance races, relays, and field events, piling up victories throughout the meet.

On the track, Cuyamaca was nearly unbeatable, highlighted by multiple event wins and two new school records:

  • Kai Berry won the 100-meter dash in 12.30*, setting a new school record.

  • Ivan Guzman captured the 3000 meters in 8:42.87*, also setting a new school record.

  • Marseel Bahnan claimed the women's 3000-meter steeplechase title in 13:00.00.

  • Daniel Vestemen won the men's 3000-meter steeplechase in 10:52.31.

  • Alonna Bush secured the 200-meter victory in 24.94.

  • The women's 4x100-meter relay team of Berry, Bush, Fairman, and Parker took first in 49.43.

The Coyotes were just as dominant in the field events, delivering strong performances in the throws, jumps, and pole vault:

  • Kaleo Donaldson earned two wins in the discus (38.92m) and hammer (38.68m).

  • Tyler Thomas won the javelin with a mark of 38.71m.

  • Makayla Fairman won the long jump with a school-record mark of 5.54m*.

  • Brandon Doctor took first in the high jump at 1.97m.

  • Devin Stewart won the triple jump with a leap of 13.33m, while teammate Colin Gainer followed in second at 13.20m.

  • Tristan Sotelo cleared 4.40m to win the pole vault, and Tyler Thomas added a second-place finish at 3.95m.

With five school records falling and victories in nearly every category, the 2026 Cuyamaca Invite will go down as one of the most successful home meets in program history.
