Cuyamaca’s Ivan Guzman Remains Undefeated in PCAC, Wins Conference Championship

El Cajon, CA

Cuyamaca College sophomore Ivan Guzman completed a dominant season by winning the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference Championship at Harry Griffen Park, finishing first overall and remaining undefeated against all PCAC competitors this season. Guzman clocked 21:24 in the four-mile final, securing the individual title and helping lead the Coyotes to the team championship.

The conference final also doubled as the PCAC/IEAC Championship, featuring top runners from two conferences. Guzman finished first overall in the entire field, and first among all PCAC athletes, officially sealing his undefeated record in conference competition.

Guzman has been exceptional all season long. He opened 2025 with a win in the 5K at the Cuyamaca Cross Country Kick-Off, running 15:59 —a performance that set a new course record. He followed with another victory at the Golden West Central Park Classic, where he won the four-mile race in 20:43. He then dominated the PCAC/IEAC Championship, earning his third win of the season and his second sub-22 four-mile performance.

He also recorded a strong postseason performance at the UC Riverside Invitational, running 24:47 for 8K against university-level competition—one of the fastest marks of his collegiate career.

Under the guidance of Coach Tim Seaman and Coach Thom Hunt, Guzman has developed into one of the top runners in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference and a contender at the state level.

Next, Guzman will lead the Coyotes into the SoCal Regional Championships on Friday, November 7, with his sights set on qualifying for the CCCAA State Championships and extending his undefeated PCAC streak.
