Sophie has been an extraordinary presence in our program—both as a player and as a person. On and off the court, she is one of the sweetest, most compassionate individuals you will ever meet, and anyone who knows her can attest to the kindness she carries with her every day.
She has been playing volleyball for 10 years, and her growth in that time has been remarkable. Sophie is the definition of commitment: late-night reps, extra weekend sessions, and a constant drive to improve. Her work ethic has taken her far, and her perseverance has shaped her into the skilled, confident athlete she is today. This season, Sophie ranks 9th in the PCAC in total kills and 9th in kills per set, finishing with 199 kills, 2.79 kills/set, 620 total attacks, a .189 hitting percentage, and 56 total blocks (9 solo, 47 assists). Over her career here, she has totaled 360 kills, 244 digs, and 101 blocks.
But Sophie's impact extends far beyond the stat sheet. She is someone her teammates can always rely on—steady, supportive, and uplifting in every way. Her presence in the gym makes our program better, and her heart makes our team a family. She is a motivated person who embraces new opportunities in life, and we know that same drive will carry her into her next chapter. Her favorite memory as a Coyote is taking the second set against LA Mission, and her favorite quote—very fitting for any San Diego gym—is: "The gym being hot is just a mindset."
To her teammates, Sophie leaves these heartfelt words:
"I truly love all of these girls that made my last year so special to me, and I've had so much fun playing volleyball with them."
And to future collegiate athletes her message is simple:
"Remember to breathe. It's very important—always take deep breaths before the serve."
Sophie, we love you, we will miss you, and we are so proud of the player and person you have become. Congratulations on all you've accomplished, and we wish you the absolute best in your future.
