EL CAJON, CA — May 5, 2025
Cuyamaca College sophomore forward Yasmine Sharpe-Shropshire has fired up her recruiting trail with five official four-year offers, solidifying her status as one of California's most feared rebounders. The San Diego native's phone is buzzing with interest from:
- Bethel College
- Hope International University
- Cottey College
- Kansas Christian College
- University of the Southwest
Since stepping onto the Coyote roster, the 5'10″ forward has been a two-way force. In 21 games this season she has:
- 15.1 points per game
- 14.1 rebounds per game (including 5 offensive boards per contest)
- 50.2 percent shooting from the field
Her relentlessness on the glass reflects a decorated prep career. Yasmine ranked #1 in California and #8 nationally for rebounds and that same nose for the ball is paying dividends at the JUCO level.
"Yasmine embodies everything we value in a Coyote," said Head Coach Sa'de Wiley-Gatewood. "She attacks every missed shot as if it's her last, leads quietly by example in the locker room, and balances her on-court passion with impressive academic focus. We couldn't be prouder to see her talent recognized."
Off the court, Sharpe-Shropshire majors in Social & Behavioral Sciences, maintains a 3.2 GPA, and serves as a peer tutor in the Student-Athlete Success Center. She also mentors incoming freshmen and spearheads community-service projects, living out our team mantra of "Purpose > Performance."
Yasmine and her coaches are now scheduling campus visits and virtual meetings with each program. She plans to announce her college decision by early June, choosing the destination that best aligns with her athletic ambitions and academic goals.
