Kinesiology major

Nia McPhatter is a freshman forward whose game is built on work, purpose, and steady growth in the paint. She fell for basketball at age 10 recess runs turned into real reps and now brings a dependable interior presence to Cuyamaca College.

On the floor, McPhatter plays a true post role: sealing deep, screening with purpose, rim-running, and finishing through contact. She takes pride in rebounding position, vertical contests without fouling, and the second-chance points that tilt momentum. As her game expands, she’s adding short-roll reads and touch in the mid-paint all anchored by effort and communication on defense.

Her jersey story marks the journey: she’s worn 22, 20 and 15; at Cuyamaca she chose #30 a fresh number for a new chapter that feels right. She carries a daily reminder: “Success is earned one practice at a time.” It shows up in early arrivals, extra reps, and finishing possessions the right way.

In the classroom, the Kinesiology Major is exploring how preparation connects to performance from recovery habits to movement efficiency mirroring the discipline she brings to the block. Grateful to be a Coyote, McPhatter is committed to giving her all, elevating teammates, and raising the standard in the paint all season.
